🐪 Animals in the Quran
The Quran says that every creature that walks the earth and every bird that flies with its wings forms a community like humankind. Livestock give people warmth and food and carry their loads, while birds held up in the sky and the way camels are created are offered as signs to look at and think about. God inspired the bee to build its homes and eat from every kind of fruit, and from its belly comes a drink of varying colours in which there is healing for people.
Animals also appear in the Quran's stories: the raven that showed a man how to hide his brother's body, the she-camel of God sent as a sign to Thamud, the cow that Moses' people were commanded to slaughter, the ant and the hoopoe that spoke before Solomon, the dog stretched out at the entrance of the cave, and the flocks of birds sent against the men of the elephant.
The Quran also draws parables from animals: the spider's house as the frailest of houses, the fly that no false god could create, and the gnat, and in advice to lower one's voice it mentions the braying of donkeys. The verses below gather the passages where the text of the Quran mentions animals.
