Classed as a Meccan sura, it begins with the command 'Say,' and in four verses sets out who God is. The first verse states that He is God, the One. The second describes God as the Eternal Refuge, the One on whom all things rely. The third says that He neither begets nor is born, so He has no parent and no offspring. The fourth closes with the statement that there is none comparable to Him.
