この章について
The surah opens with an oath by the star as it sinks, declaring that the Prophet has not gone astray, does not speak from his own desire, and conveys only revelation. It describes one mighty in power who stood on the highest horizon and drew as near as two bow-lengths, and a second sighting by the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary, where the Prophet saw some of his Lord's great signs. It then dismisses al-Lat, al-Uzza and Manat as mere names invented by people and their forefathers, and rejects giving the angels female names as conjecture. Principles from the scrolls of Moses and Abraham follow: no one bears another's burden, and a person has only what he strives for. God is described as the One who makes people laugh and weep, gives death and life, and destroyed Ad, Thamud and the people of Noah. The surah ends with a command to prostrate to God and worship Him.
- Truth of the revelation
- Vision at the Lote Tree
- Idols as mere names
- Each according to effort
- A call to prostrate
名前の由来 It is named after the oath in verse 1 by the star when it sinks down.

-
1
By the star when it sinks down!
-
2
Your companion has not gone astray, nor has he been misled.
-
3
Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire.
-
4
It is nothing but a revelation that is revealed.
-
5
One mighty in power taught him,
-
6
one of firm strength, who then stood poised,
-
7
while he was on the highest horizon.
-
8
Then he drew near and came down closer,
-
9
until he was two bow-lengths away, or nearer still.
-
10
So He revealed to His servant what He revealed.
-
11
The heart did not belie what it saw.
-
12
So will you argue with him over what he sees?
-
13
And indeed he saw him at another descent,
-
14
by the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary,
-
15
near which is the Garden of Refuge,
-
16
when there covered the Lote Tree what covered [it].
-
17
The sight did not swerve, nor did it overstep.
-
18
Indeed, he saw some of his Lord's greatest signs.
-
19
Have you considered al-Lat and al-Uzza,
-
20
and Manat, the third, the other one?
-
21
Are males for you and females for Him?
-
22
That, then, would be an unfair division!
-
23
They are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have named; God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their souls desire, though guidance has already come to them from their Lord.
-
24
Or shall man have whatever he wishes for?
-
25
To God belong the Hereafter and the first [life].
-
26
How many an angel there is in the heavens whose intercession avails nothing, except after God gives permission for whom He wills and is pleased with.
-
27
Truly, those who have no faith in the Hereafter give the angels the names of females.
-
28
They have no knowledge of it; they follow nothing but conjecture, and conjecture avails nothing against the truth.
-
29
So pay no heed to anyone who turns from Our reminder and desires only the worldly life.
-
30
That is the extent of their knowledge. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His way, and He knows best who is rightly guided.
-
31
To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, so that He may repay those who do evil for what they have done, and repay those who do good with the best.
-
32
Those who avoid the major sins and indecencies, except for minor lapses — your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He knows you best, from when He produced you from the earth and when you were embryos in your mothers' wombs. So do not claim purity for yourselves; He knows best who is mindful of Him.
-
33
Have you seen the one who turns away,
-
34
who gives a little and then holds back?
-
35
Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so that he can see?
-
36
Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses,
-
37
and of Abraham, who fulfilled [his duty]:
-
38
that no bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another,
-
39
and that man shall have nothing but what he strives for,
-
40
and that his striving will be seen,
-
41
then he will be repaid for it in the fullest measure,
-
42
and that to your Lord is the final end,
-
43
and that it is He who makes [people] laugh and weep,
-
44
and that it is He who causes death and gives life,
-
45
and that it is He who fashioned the pair — the male and the female —
-
46
from a drop of fluid when it is emitted,
-
47
and that upon Him rests the second creation,
-
48
and that it is He who enriches and grants possessions,
-
49
and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius,
-
50
and that He destroyed the former Ad,
-
51
and Thamud, sparing none,
-
52
and the people of Noah before them — they were indeed more unjust and more rebellious —
-
53
and He overthrew the overturned cities,
-
54
so that there covered them what covered [them].
-
55
Then which of your Lord's favours will you dispute?
-
56
This is a warner like the warners of old.
-
57
The imminent [Hour] has drawn near.
-
58
None besides God can remove it.
-
59
Do you then marvel at this message,
-
60
and laugh and do not weep,
-
61
while you are heedlessly amusing yourselves?
-
62
So prostrate yourselves to God and worship [Him].
