この章について
This surah is classified as revealed in the Medinan period. It begins with everything in the heavens and earth glorifying God, then presents as a lesson the expulsion of disbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes at the first gathering, despite their trust in their fortresses. It rules that property gained without fighting goes to near relatives, orphans, the needy, the wayfarer, and the emigrants who lost their homes, so that wealth does not circulate only among the rich. It praises the people of Medina who loved the emigrants and preferred others over themselves, and compares the hypocrites who promised help they never gave to Satan, who disowns those he misleads. It ends by urging each soul to consider what it has sent ahead for tomorrow, describes a mountain splitting in awe if the Quran were sent down on it, and lists many of God's names.
- Expulsion from the fortresses
- Distribution of spoils
- Emigrants and their hosts
- Hypocrites' empty promises
- The names of God
The name comes from verse 2, which speaks of God expelling the disbelievers among the People of the Book from their homes 'at the first gathering.'

1
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies God, and He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.

It is He who expelled those who disbelieved among the People of the Book from their homes at the first gathering. You did not think they would leave, and they thought their fortresses would protect them from God. But God came upon them from where they did not expect and cast terror into their hearts. They ruined their houses with their own hands and the hands of the believers. So take a lesson, O you who have eyes to see.

3
Had God not decreed exile for them, He would have punished them in this world; and in the Hereafter they will have the punishment of the Fire.
-
4
That is because they opposed God and His Messenger. And whoever opposes God — indeed God is severe in penalty.
-
5
Whatever palm trees you cut down or left standing on their roots, it was by God's permission, and so that He might disgrace the defiantly disobedient.
-
6
And what God gave to His Messenger as spoils from them — you did not spur on any horses or camels for it. But God gives His messengers power over whom He wills, and God has power over all things.
-
7
Whatever God has given to His Messenger as spoils from the people of the towns belongs to God and the Messenger, and to near relatives, orphans, the needy and the wayfarer, so that it does not merely circulate among the rich among you. Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, refrain from it. And be mindful of God; indeed God is severe in penalty.

[It is also] for the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their property, seeking bounty from God and [His] good pleasure, and supporting God and His Messenger. They are the truthful ones.
-
9
And those who settled in the home [of Medina] and [embraced] faith before them love those who emigrate to them, and find no desire in their hearts for what [the emigrants] were given, and they prefer [others] over themselves even if they are in want. And whoever is protected from the greed of his own soul — they are the successful.
-
10
And those who came after them say, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith, and do not put in our hearts any resentment toward those who believe. Our Lord, You are indeed Most Kind, Most Merciful."
-
11
Have you not seen the hypocrites saying to their brothers who disbelieve among the People of the Book, "If you are expelled, we will surely leave with you, and we will never obey anyone against you; and if you are fought, we will surely help you"? But God bears witness that they are liars.
-
12
Should they be driven out, these will not go out with them; should they be attacked, these will not come to their aid; and even if they did aid them, they would surely flee, and then they would find no help.
-
13
You are more fearsome in their hearts than God. That is because they are a people who do not comprehend.
-
14
They will not fight you all together except in fortified towns or from behind walls. Their hostility among themselves is severe. You think they are united, but their hearts are divided. That is because they are a people who do not reason.
-
15
Like those shortly before them, they tasted the evil result of their conduct, and they will have a painful punishment.
-
16
Like Satan, when he says to man, "Disbelieve!" Then when he disbelieves, he says, "I am free of you. I fear God, Lord of all the worlds."
-
17
So the end of both is that they will be in the Fire, abiding in it forever. That is the recompense of the wrongdoers.
-
18
O you who believe, be mindful of God, and let every soul consider what it has sent ahead for tomorrow. And be mindful of God; indeed God is fully aware of what you do.
-
19
And do not be like those who forgot God, so He made them forget themselves. They are the defiantly disobedient.
-
20
Not equal are the companions of the Fire and the companions of the Garden. The companions of the Garden are the triumphant.
-
21
Had We sent down this Quran upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and splitting apart out of awe of God. And these are the examples We set forth for people so that they may reflect.

22
He is God, other than whom there is no god, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
-
23
He is God, other than whom there is no god: the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the Source of Peace, the Granter of Security, the Overseer, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Supreme in Greatness. Glory be to God, far above whatever they associate [with Him].
-
24
He is God — the Creator, the Maker, the Giver of form. The finest names are His. All that is in the heavens and the earth exalts Him, and He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
