- 太字 = 単語の強勢がある音節。少し強く。
- 上線 = 長母音（マッド）。2拍ほど伸ばす。朗誦でいちばん大切な長さ。
- 小さい字 = アラビア語に母音がない所。子音だけを短く。
- 小さなラテン文字 = 韓国語にない音。次の音節に付く。f 上の歯で下唇に触れる · θ/ð 舌先を歯の間に · r 舌先を震わせる（ㄹ だけなら l）。

- 太く大きい字(ˈ) = 強く、少し長く。単語でいちばん強い音節。
- 薄い字 = 弱く・短く(あいまい母音)。全部の音節を同じ強さで読まないこと。
- 小さい 으・트・스 = ほとんど発音しない。英語にない母音なので、子音だけで止める。
- 単語全体が薄い(the・of・and・to…) = 文の中では弱く速く。名詞・動詞など内容語を強く。

この章について
Classed as a Meccan sura, it opens with a long series of oaths: by the sun and its morning brightness, the moon that follows it, the day that displays it and the night that covers it, the sky and its Builder, the earth and the One who spread it, and the soul and the One who proportioned it. The point of these oaths follows: God inspired each soul with awareness of its wickedness and of its mindfulness of Him, so whoever purifies the soul succeeds and whoever corrupts it fails. The sura then gives the people of Thamud as an example. A messenger of God warned them to leave alone the she-camel of God and her turn to drink, but they called him a liar and hamstrung the camel. Their Lord destroyed them for their sin and levelled them, without fearing what would follow.

하늘과 그것을 세우신 분을 두고,

땅과 그것을 펼치신 분을 두고,

영혼과 그것을 반듯하게 빚으신 분을 두고 맹세하노라.

그분께서는 그 영혼에게 그것의 사악함과 경외심을 [깨닫도록] 불어넣으셨다.

그것을 깨끗하게 하는 이는 성공한 것이며,

그것을 더럽히는 자는 실패한 것이다.

사무드 백성은 오만하여 [진리를] 부인하였다.

그때 그들 가운데 가장 비참한 자가 나섰다.

하나님의 사도가 그들에게 말하였다. "하나님의 암낙타와 그 물 마시는 차례를 [건드리지 마라]."

그러나 그들은 그를 거짓이라 하며 암낙타의 힘줄을 베었다. 그래서 그들의 주님께서 그들의 죄 때문에 그들을 멸하시고 그들을 [땅과] 평평하게 하셨다.

그분께서는 그 뒷일을 두려워하지 않으신다.
