🪽 Angels and Jinn in the Quran
In the Quran, belief in God's angels is named alongside belief in God, His Books and His messengers. The angels are described as messengers with wings, two, three or four, who are never too proud to worship God, never grow weary, and glorify Him night and day. The text also speaks of noble guardians who record what people do, of stern angels set over the Fire, and of angels who descend on the steadfast with the good news of the Garden.
Gabriel is named as the one who brought the revelation down upon the Prophet's heart by God's permission. The Quran also speaks of the Trustworthy Spirit who brought the revelation down, and of the Spirit who descends with the angels on the Night of Decree.
The jinn, according to the Quran, were created before humankind from a smokeless flame of fire, and like humans they were created to worship God. Iblis, who refused to prostrate before Adam, is said to have been one of the jinn, while a group of jinn listened to the Quran and came to believe in it. The verses below gather what the text of the Quran says about angels and the jinn.

Angels who serve God
- 2:285
Believers believe in God, His angels, His Books and His messengers.

The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each believes in God, His angels, His Books and His messengers. “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the final return.”
- 35:1
God made the angels messengers with wings, two, three or four.
