この章について
Classed as a Meccan sura, it opens by setting Pharaoh, who exalted himself and oppressed a part of his people, against God's will to favour the oppressed. Moses's life then unfolds. His mother is inspired to cast her baby into the river, Pharaoh's household picks him up, and God returns him to her to nurse. As a young man Moses intervenes in a fight and kills a man, flees to Midian, waters the flocks of two women, and marries one of their father's daughters. After completing his term he is called from beside a fire and sent with his brother Aaron to Pharaoh, and Pharaoh, Haman and their hosts are drowned in the sea. The sura then speaks of earlier People of the Book who recognise this revelation, and reminds the Prophet that he cannot guide whomever he loves. It ends with Korah, who boasted of his treasures and was swallowed by the earth with his house, and the statement that everything perishes except God's Face.
- Relief for the oppressed
- Moses's birth and youth
- Refuge in Midian
- Guidance belongs to God
- The pride of Korah
名前の由来 The name comes from verse 25, where Moses tells his story to the father of the two women in Midian.

Ta Sin Mim.
-
2
These are the verses of the clear Book.
-
3
We recite to you some of the account of Moses and Pharaoh in truth, for people who believe.
-
4
Pharaoh exalted himself in the land and divided its people into factions, oppressing one group of them, slaughtering their sons and sparing their women. He was truly one of those who spread corruption.
-
5
But We wished to show favor to those who were oppressed in the land, to make them leaders, and to make them the inheritors,
-
6
to establish them in the land, and to show Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts, through them, the very thing they feared.
-
7
We inspired the mother of Moses: “Nurse him, and when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and do not fear or grieve. We will return him to you and make him one of the messengers.”
-
8
Then Pharaoh’s household picked him up, so that he would become an enemy and a source of grief for them. Pharaoh and Haman and their hosts were indeed sinners.
-
9
Pharaoh’s wife said, “[He will be] a joy to my eyes and to yours. Do not kill him; perhaps he will be of benefit to us, or we may adopt him as a son.” And they did not perceive [what was to come].
-
10
The heart of Moses’ mother became empty [of all else]. She would almost have revealed him had We not strengthened her heart, so that she would be one of the believers.
-
11
She said to his sister, “Follow him.” So she watched him from a distance while they did not perceive.
-
12
We had already forbidden him [to take] any wet nurse, so she said, “Shall I direct you to a household who will take care of him for you and will be well-disposed to him?”
-
13
So We returned him to his mother, so that she might be comforted and not grieve, and so that she would know that God’s promise is true. But most of them do not know.
-
14
When he reached his full strength and maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. That is how We reward those who do good.
-
15
He entered the city at a time when its people were unaware, and he found in it two men fighting, one from his own faction and the other from his enemies. The one from his faction called on him for help against the one from his enemies, so Moses struck him with his fist and killed him. He said, “This is from the work of Satan. He is indeed a clear enemy who leads astray.”
-
16
He said, “My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.” So He forgave him. He is indeed the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
-
17
He said, “My Lord, because of the favor You have shown me, I will never be a supporter of the wrongdoers.”
-
18
Morning found him in the city, fearful and watchful, and suddenly the man who had sought his help the day before was crying out to him for help again. Moses said to him, “You are clearly a misguided man.”
-
19
Then, when he was about to seize the one who was an enemy to them both, [the man] said, “Moses, do you want to kill me as you killed a person yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land; you do not want to be one of those who set things right.”
-
20
A man came running from the far end of the city. He said, “Moses, the chiefs are conspiring about you to kill you, so leave. I am giving you sincere advice.”
-
21
So he left it, fearful and watchful. He said, “My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.”
-
22
When he turned toward Midian, he said, “Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the right way.”
-
23
When he arrived at the waters of Midian, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found, apart from them, two women holding back [their flock]. He said, “What is the matter with you?” They said, “We cannot water [our flock] until the shepherds take [theirs] away, and our father is a very old man.”
-
24
So he watered [their flock] for them, then withdrew into the shade and said, “My Lord, I am truly in need of whatever good You send down to me.”
-
25
Then one of the two women came to him, walking shyly. She said, “My father invites you, to reward you for watering [our flock] for us.” When he came to him and told him the story, he said, “Do not be afraid. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people.”
-
26
One of the two said, “Father, hire him. The best one you can hire is the strong and trustworthy.”
-
27
He said, “I wish to marry you to one of these two daughters of mine, on condition that you work for me for eight years. If you complete ten, that will be [a kindness] from you. I do not wish to be hard on you. You will find me, if God wills, one of the righteous.”
-
28
[Moses] said, “That is [agreed] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I fulfill, there will be no wrong done to me. And God is witness to what we say.”
-
29
When Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he caught sight of a fire on the side of the mountain. He said to his family, “Stay here. I have caught sight of a fire. Perhaps I can bring you some news from it, or a burning ember from the fire, so that you may warm yourselves.”
-
30
When he came to it, he was called from the right side of the valley, in the blessed spot, from the tree: “Moses, it is I — God, Lord of all the worlds.
-
31
Throw down your staff.” When he saw it writhing as though it were a darting snake, he turned his back in flight and did not look back. “Moses, come forward and do not be afraid. You are among those who are safe.
-
32
Put your hand into the opening of your garment; it will come out white, without any blemish. And draw your arm close to your side [to calm yourself] from fear. These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs. They have truly been a defiant people.”
-
33
He said, “My Lord, I killed one of them, and I fear that they will kill me.
-
34
My brother Aaron is more eloquent than me in speech, so send him with me as a helper to confirm what I say. I fear that they will call me a liar.”
-
35
He said, “We will strengthen your arm through your brother and give you both authority, so that they will not reach you. With Our signs, you two and those who follow you will be the victors.”
-
36
When Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said, “This is nothing but invented sorcery. We never heard of this among our forefathers.”
-
37
Moses said, “My Lord knows best who has come with guidance from Him, and who will have the [good] outcome of the [final] Home. The wrongdoers will never succeed.”
-
38
Pharaoh said, “Chiefs, I know of no god for you other than me. So, Haman, kindle a fire for me over clay [to make bricks], and build me a tower, so that I may look up to the god of Moses — though I think he is a liar.”
-
39
He and his hosts were arrogant in the land without any right, and they thought they would not be returned to Us.
-
40
So We seized him and his hosts and threw them into the sea. See, then, what the end of the wrongdoers was.
-
41
We made them leaders who call [others] to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.
-
42
In this world We had a curse pursue them, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among the disgraced.
-
43
Having destroyed the generations of old, We granted Moses the Book to give people insight, guidance and mercy, so that they might reflect.
-
44
You were not on the western side [of the mountain] when We decreed the command to Moses, nor were you among the witnesses.
-
45
But We brought into being [many] generations, and long ages passed over them. Nor were you living among the people of Midian, reciting Our verses to them. But it is We who send messengers.
-
46
Nor were you beside the mountain when We called out. Rather, [this is] a mercy from your Lord, so that you may warn a people to whom no warner came before you, so that they may take heed;
-
47
and so that, if a calamity should strike them because of what their own hands have sent ahead, they would not say, “Our Lord, why did You not send us a messenger, so that we could follow Your signs and be among the believers?”
-
48
But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, “Why was he not given the like of what Moses was given?” Did they not already disbelieve in what Moses was given before? They said, “Two works of sorcery backing each other up.” And they said, “We disbelieve in both.”
-
49
Say, “Produce, then, a Book from God that is a better guide than these two, and I shall follow it, if what you say is true.”
-
50
If they do not respond to you, know that they are only following their own desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his own desire without guidance from God? God does not guide the wrongdoing people.
-
51
We have conveyed the Word to them in succession, so that they may take heed.
-
52
As for those to whom We had given the Book before this, they have faith in it.
-
53
When it is recited to them, they say, “We believe in it; it is the truth from our Lord. Even before it we had submitted [to God].”
-
54
Those will be given their reward twice over for having been steadfast. They repel evil with good, and spend out of what We have provided for them.
-
55
When they hear idle talk, they turn away from it and say, “We have our deeds and you have your deeds. Peace be upon you. We do not seek [the company of] the ignorant.”
-
56
You cannot guide whomever you love, but God guides whomever He wills, and He knows best those who are guided.
-
57
They say, “If we follow the guidance with you, we will be snatched away from our land.” Have We not established for them a safe sanctuary, to which fruits of every kind are brought as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.
-
58
How many a town We have destroyed that was arrogantly ungrateful for its livelihood! There are their dwellings, hardly lived in after them, and it is We who were the inheritors.
-
59
Your Lord would never destroy towns until He had sent to their mother city a messenger reciting Our verses to them. And We would never destroy towns unless their people were wrongdoers.
-
60
Whatever you have been given is only the enjoyment of the life of this world and its adornment, while what is with God is better and more lasting. Will you not use your reason?
-
61
Is one to whom We have made a fine promise, which he will see fulfilled, like one whom We have given the enjoyment of the life of this world and who then, on the Day of Resurrection, will be among those brought [for punishment]?
-
62
On the day He calls to them and says, “Where are My ‘partners’ whom you used to claim?”
-
63
Those against whom the word has come true will say, “Our Lord, these are the ones we led astray. We led them astray just as we ourselves went astray. We disown them before You. It was not us they worshipped.”
-
64
It will be said, “Call upon your ‘partners’.” They will call upon them, but they will not answer them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had been guided!
-
65
On the day He calls to them and says, “What answer did you give the messengers?”
-
66
all accounts will be obscured for them that day, and they will not [even] ask one another.
-
67
But as for one who repents, believes, and does righteous deeds, perhaps he will be among the successful.
-
68
Your Lord creates whatever He wills and chooses. The choice is not theirs. Glory be to God, and exalted is He above what they associate [with Him].
-
69
Your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they disclose.
-
70
He is God; there is no god but Him. To Him belongs all praise in the first [life] and in the Hereafter. His is the judgement, and to Him you will be returned.
-
71
Say, “Have you considered: if God made the night endless over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than God could bring you light? Will you not listen?”
-
72
Say, “Have you considered: if God made the day endless over you until the Day of Resurrection, what god other than God could bring you night in which to rest? Will you not see?”
-
73
Out of His mercy He has made for you the night and the day, so that you may rest in it and seek of His bounty, and so that you may be grateful.
-
74
On the day He calls to them and says, “Where are My ‘partners’ whom you used to claim?”
-
75
And We will draw out from every community a witness and say, “Bring your proof.” Then they will know that the truth belongs to God, and what they used to invent will have abandoned them.
-
76
Korah was of the people of Moses, but he behaved oppressively toward them. We had given him such treasures that their keys alone would weigh down a band of strong men. His people said to him, “Do not exult. God does not love those who exult.
-
77
Seek, through what God has given you, the Home of the Hereafter, and do not forget your share of this world. Do good as God has done good to you, and do not seek corruption in the land. God does not love those who spread corruption.”
-
78
He said, “I have been given it only because of knowledge I possess.” Did he not know that God had destroyed before him generations that were stronger than he in power and greater in wealth? The guilty will not be asked about their sins.
-
79
So he went out before his people in his finery. Those who desired the life of this world said, “If only we had the like of what Korah has been given! He is truly a man of great fortune.”
-
80
But those who had been given knowledge said, “Woe to you! God’s reward is better for whoever believes and does righteous deeds, and none will attain it except the steadfast.”
-
81
So We caused the earth to swallow him and his house. He had no band to help him against God, nor could he defend himself.
-
82
Those who had longed to be in his place the day before began to say, “Ah, it is indeed God who expands provision for whomever He wills of His servants and restricts it. Had God not been gracious to us, He would have made [the earth] swallow us too. Ah, the disbelievers never succeed.”
-
83
That Home of the Hereafter We grant to those who seek neither self-exaltation in the land nor corruption. The [good] outcome belongs to the God-fearing.
-
84
Whoever comes with a good deed will have better than it; and whoever comes with an evil deed — those who did evil deeds will be repaid only for what they used to do.
-
85
He who has made the Quran binding upon you will surely bring you back to a place of return. Say, “My Lord knows best who has come with guidance and who is in clear error.”
-
86
You never expected that the Book would be sent down to you; it is only a mercy from your Lord. So never be a supporter of the disbelievers.
-
87
Let them never turn you away from God’s verses after they have been sent down to you. Call [people] to your Lord, and never be one of the idolaters.
-
88
Do not call upon any other god besides God. There is no god but Him. Everything will perish except His Face. His is the judgement, and to Him you will be returned.
