この章について
The surah begins with Ha Mim and describes an Arabic Quran whose verses are explained in detail, bringing good news and warning, while many turn away saying their hearts are veiled. It recounts the creation of the earth and heavens over set days, including the moment God addressed the sky, then smoke, and the earth, and they answered, “We come willingly.” It recalls Ad, who boasted of their strength and were struck by a roaring wind, and Thamud, who preferred blindness to guidance. On the Day of Judgement, people's hearing, eyes and skins will testify against them. Those who say “Our Lord is God” and stay steadfast are comforted by descending angels, and believers are taught to repel evil with what is better so that an enemy becomes like a close friend. People are told to prostrate not to the sun or moon but to their Creator, and the surah ends with the promise of signs shown on the horizons and within themselves.

1
Ha Mim.
-
2
A sending down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
-
3
a Book whose verses have been made distinct, an Arabic Quran for people who know,
-
4
bringing good news and warning. But most of them turn away, so they do not listen.
-
5
They say, "Our hearts are veiled from what you call us to, in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a barrier. So do [as you will]; we too are doing [as we will]."
-
6
Say, "I am just a mortal like yourselves, receiving revelation that your God is one God. So turn directly to Him and ask His pardon." Woe to the idolaters,
-
7
who do not give the alms (zakat) and who disbelieve in the Hereafter.
-
8
Those who believe and do righteous deeds will have a reward that never ends.
-
9
Say, "Do you really disbelieve in the One who created the earth in two days, and set up rivals to Him? That is the Lord of all the worlds.
-
10
He placed in it firm mountains rising above it, blessed it, and measured out its sustenance in it in four days, equal for [all] who ask.
-
11
Then He turned to the sky while it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth, 'Come, willingly or unwillingly.' They said, 'We come willingly.'
-
12
So He completed them as seven heavens in two days and revealed to each heaven its command. And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as a protection. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing."
-
13
But if they turn away, say, "I warn you of a thunderbolt like the thunderbolt of Ad and Thamud."
-
14
When the messengers came to them from before them and from behind them, [saying], "Worship none but God," they said, "If our Lord had willed, He would have sent down angels. So we disbelieve in what you have been sent with."
-
15
As for Ad, they were arrogant in the land without right and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not see that God, who created them, is greater than them in strength? And they used to reject Our signs.
-
16
So We sent upon them a furious, roaring wind during days of misfortune, to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the life of this world. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgraceful, and they will not be helped.
-
17
As for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.
-
18
And We saved those who believed and were mindful of God.
-
19
And on the Day the enemies of God are gathered to the Fire, they will be driven in ranks,
-
20
until, when they reach it, their hearing, their eyes and their skins will testify against them about what they used to do.
-
21
They will say to their skins, "Why did you testify against us?" They will say, "God, who gave speech to all things, gave us speech. He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.
-
22
You did not hide yourselves lest your hearing, your eyes and your skins should testify against you; rather, you assumed that God did not know much of what you did.
-
23
And that assumption of yours which you held about your Lord has ruined you, so you have become among the losers."
-
24
Then if they endure, the Fire is their dwelling; and if they ask to be excused, they will not be among those excused.
-
25
And We assigned companions to them, who made fair-seeming to them what was before them and what was behind them, and the word came due upon them, as upon the communities of jinn and humans that passed away before them. They were truly losers.
-
26
Those who disbelieve say, "Do not listen to this Quran, and make noise during it, so that you may prevail."
-
27
We will surely make those who disbelieve taste a severe punishment, and We will surely repay them for the worst of what they used to do.
-
28
That is the recompense of the enemies of God: the Fire. In it they will have the home of eternity, as recompense for their rejecting Our signs.
-
29
And those who disbelieve will say, "Our Lord, show us those among the jinn and humans who led us astray, so that we may put them beneath our feet, that they may be among the lowest."
-
30
Those who say, "Our Lord is God," and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve, but rejoice in the good news of the Garden which you were promised.
-
31
We are your protectors in the life of this world and in the Hereafter. There you will have whatever your souls desire, and there you will have whatever you ask for,
-
32
as hospitality from One who is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful."
-
33
And who is better in speech than one who calls to God, does righteousness, and says, "I am one of the Muslims"?
-
34
Good and evil are not equal. Repel [evil] with what is better, and then the one between whom and you there was enmity will be as though he were a devoted friend.
-
35
But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one who has great good fortune.
-
36
And if a prompting from Satan should stir you, seek refuge in God. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
-
37
Among His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostrate to God, who created them, if it is Him you worship.
-
38
But if they are arrogant, those who are with your Lord glorify Him night and day, and they never grow weary.
-
39
And among His signs is that you see the earth humbled and barren, but when We send down water upon it, it stirs and swells. He who gives it life will surely give life to the dead. He has power over all things.
-
40
Those who distort Our signs are not hidden from Us. Is one who is cast into the Fire better, or one who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do whatever you will; He sees what you do.
-
41
Those who disbelieve in the Reminder when it comes to them [will be held to account]; and it is indeed a mighty Book.
-
42
Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; [it is] a sending down from One who is All-Wise, Praiseworthy.
-
43
Nothing is said to you except what was said to the messengers before you. Your Lord is the Possessor of forgiveness and the Possessor of painful retribution.
-
44
Had We made it a foreign [-language] Quran, they would have said, "Why are its verses not made clear? What! A foreign [tongue] and an Arab [messenger]?" Say, "It is guidance and healing for those who believe. But those who do not believe have deafness in their ears, and it is blindness for them. They are being called from a far-off place."
-
45
And We gave Moses the Book, but there was disagreement about it. Had it not been for a word that had already gone forth from your Lord, it would have been settled between them. And they are in disquieting doubt about it.
-
46
Whoever does righteousness, it is for his own soul; and whoever does evil, it is against it. Your Lord is never unjust to [His] servants.
-
47
To Him is referred the knowledge of the Hour. No fruit comes out of its sheath, and no female conceives or gives birth, except with His knowledge. And on the Day He calls to them, "Where are My partners?" they will say, "We declare to You that none of us is a witness [to that]."
-
48
What they used to call upon before will have vanished from them, and they will realize that they have no escape.
-
49
Man never tires of praying for good, but if evil touches him, he is despairing and hopeless.
-
50
And if We let him taste mercy from Us after some adversity has touched him, he will surely say, "This is my due. I do not think the Hour will come. And even if I am returned to my Lord, I will surely have the best with Him." But We will surely inform those who disbelieve of what they did, and We will surely make them taste a harsh punishment.
-
51
When We bestow favor on man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, he is full of lengthy prayers.
-
52
Say, "Have you considered: if it is from God and you disbelieve in it, who is more astray than one who is in extreme opposition?"
-
53
In the farthest regions and within their own souls We will show them Our signs, until it becomes plain to them that it is the truth. Is your Lord's witnessing over all things not enough?
-
54
Surely they are in doubt about the meeting with their Lord. Surely He encompasses all things.
