この章について
Classed as a Meccan sura, it opens by saying that God's command has come, so it should not be hastened, and then lists at length the favours provided for people: livestock and riding animals, rain and crops, the sea, the mountains and the stars that guide travellers. If people tried to count God's favours, it says, they could not number them. It criticises the worship of other gods and the custom of a father's face darkening at the birth of a daughter, and points to milk, dates and grapes as signs. God inspires the bee to build its homes and feed on every fruit, and from it comes a drink that brings healing. The later part gathers teachings: God commands justice and doing good, oaths and covenants must be kept, and one should seek refuge from Satan before reciting the Quran. Abraham is held up as an example, and the sura ends with the call to invite others with wisdom and good counsel.
- Countless favours
- Signs in nature
- Inspiration of the bee
- Justice and keeping oaths
- Inviting with wisdom
名前の由来 The name comes from verse 68, where God inspires the bee to make its homes in the mountains and trees and to feed on every kind of fruit.

-
1
God's command has come, so do not seek to hasten it. Glory be to Him, and exalted is He above what they associate [with Him].
-
2
He sends down the angels with the Spirit by His command upon whom He wills of His servants, [saying], "Warn that there is no god but Me, so be mindful of Me."
-
3
He created the heavens and the earth in truth. Exalted is He above what they associate [with Him].
-
4
He created man from a drop of fluid, and behold, he is an open adversary.
-
5
And the livestock He created; in them there is warmth for you and [other] benefits, and from them you eat.
-
6
And there is beauty in them for you when you bring them home in the evening and when you drive them out to pasture in the morning.
-
7
And they carry your loads to a land you could not reach except with great hardship to yourselves. Your Lord is Most Kind, Most Merciful.
-
8
And [He created] horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and as adornment. And He creates what you do not know.
-
9
Upon God rests [the showing of] the right path, and some [paths] are crooked. Had He willed, He would have guided you all.
-
10
It is He who sends down water from the sky; from it you drink, and from it come the plants on which you pasture [your animals].
-
11
With it He causes crops to grow for you, and olives, and date palms, and grapevines, and every kind of fruit. In that there is a sign for people who reflect.
-
12
He has made the night and the day, the sun and the moon subservient to you, and the stars are made subservient by His command. In that there are signs for people who use their reason.
-
13
And [He has made subservient] whatever He has multiplied for you on the earth, of varying colours. In that there is a sign for people who take heed.
-
14
He is the One who placed the sea at your service, so that you can eat tender flesh from it and draw from it jewellery to adorn yourselves. You see ships ploughing their way through it, so that you may go in search of His bounty and perhaps give thanks.
-
15
He has cast firm mountains on the earth so that it does not shake with you, and rivers and roads so that you may find your way,
-
16
and landmarks. And by the stars they find their way.
-
17
Is He who creates like one who does not create? Will you not take heed?
-
18
If you were to count God's favours, you could not number them. God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
-
19
God knows what you conceal and what you reveal.
-
20
Those they call on besides God create nothing, while they themselves are created.
-
21
They are dead, not living, and they do not know when they will be raised.
-
22
Your God is One God. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts deny, and they are arrogant.
-
23
There is no doubt that God knows what they conceal and what they reveal. He does not love the arrogant.
-
24
When it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Legends of the ancients."
-
25
So they will bear their own burdens in full on the Day of Resurrection, and also some of the burdens of those whom they lead astray without knowledge. How evil is what they bear!
-
26
Those before them schemed, but God came at their building from the foundations, and the roof fell down upon them from above, and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.
-
27
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My partners for whose sake you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Disgrace and misery today are upon the disbelievers,
-
28
those whom the angels take in death while they are wronging themselves." Then they will offer submission: "We were not doing any evil." "Yes, you were! God knows well what you used to do.
-
29
So enter the gates of Hell, to abide in it forever." How evil is the abode of the arrogant!
-
30
And it will be said to those who were mindful of God, "What has your Lord sent down?" They will say, "Good." For those who do good in this world there is good, and the home of the Hereafter is better still. How excellent is the home of the God-fearing:
-
31
Gardens of Eden which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have in them whatever they wish. Thus does God reward the God-fearing,
-
32
those whom the angels take in death while they are pure, saying, "Peace be upon you. Enter the Garden because of what you used to do."
-
33
Are they waiting for anything but that the angels should come to them, or that your Lord's command should come? So did those before them. God did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.
-
34
So the evil consequences of what they did struck them, and they were overwhelmed by what they used to mock.
-
35
Those who associate partners [with God] say, "Had God willed, we would not have worshipped anything besides Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything without His [command]." So did those before them. Is anything incumbent on the messengers except clear delivery [of the message]?
-
36
We sent to every community a messenger, [saying], "Worship God and avoid false gods." Among them were some whom God guided, and among them were some upon whom error was justly due. So travel through the land and see what was the end of the deniers.
-
37
Even if you are eager for their guidance, God does not guide those whom He leaves astray, and they will have no helpers.
-
38
They swear by God their most solemn oaths that God will not raise up anyone who dies. Yes, He will — a promise binding upon Him in truth — but most people do not know,
-
39
so that He may make clear to them what they differed about, and so that those who disbelieved may know that they were liars.
-
40
Our only word to a thing, when We intend it, is that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
-
41
Those who emigrated for the sake of God after they had been wronged, We will surely give them a good dwelling in this world, and the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they knew,
-
42
those who are patient and put their trust in their Lord.
-
43
We sent before you only men to whom We gave revelation. So ask the people of the Reminder if you do not know.
-
44
[We sent them] with clear proofs and scriptures. And We have sent down to you the Reminder so that you may make clear to people what has been sent down to them, and so that they may reflect.
-
45
Do those who devise evil plots feel secure that God will not make the earth swallow them, or that punishment will not come to them from where they do not perceive?
-
46
Or that He will not seize them in the midst of their comings and goings, and they cannot escape?
-
47
Or that He will not seize them while they are in dread? Yet your Lord is Most Kind, Most Merciful.
-
48
Have they not seen how the shadows of everything God has created shift to the right and to the left, bowing down to God in all humility?
-
49
To God bows down whatever is in the heavens and whatever creature is on the earth, and the angels too, and they are not arrogant.
-
50
They fear their Lord above them and do what they are commanded.
-
51
God has said, "Do not take up two gods. He is but one God, so it is Me alone that you should hold in awe."
-
52
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is due everlasting obedience. Will you then fear anyone other than God?
-
53
Whatever blessing you have is from God. Then when harm touches you, it is to Him that you cry out for help.
-
54
Then when He removes the harm from you, at once a group of you associate partners with their Lord,
-
55
so as to show ingratitude for what We have given them. So enjoy yourselves; you will come to know.
-
56
And they assign a share of what We have provided for them to things they do not know. By God, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
-
57
And they assign daughters to God — glory be to Him! — while for themselves [they have] what they desire.
-
58
When one of them is given news of [the birth of] a girl, his face darkens and he is filled with suppressed grief.
-
59
He hides himself from people because of the bad news he has been given. Should he keep her in humiliation or bury her in the dust? How evil is their judgement!
-
60
To those who do not believe in the Hereafter belongs the description of evil, and to God belongs the highest description. He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.
-
61
If God were to take people to task for their wrongdoing, He would not leave a single creature on [the earth]. But He grants them respite until an appointed term. When their term comes, they cannot delay it by an hour, nor can they bring it forward.
-
62
They assign to God what they themselves dislike, and their tongues utter the lie that the best [reward] will be theirs. There is no doubt that the Fire will be theirs, and that they will be hastened into it [and abandoned].
-
63
By God, We sent [messengers] to communities before you, but Satan made their deeds seem attractive to them. So he is their patron today, and they will have a painful punishment.
-
64
We have sent down the Book to you only so that you may make clear to them what they differed about, and as guidance and mercy for people who believe.
-
65
God sends down water from the sky and gives life thereby to the earth after its death. In that there is a sign for people who listen.
-
66
In the livestock there is a lesson for you. We give you to drink from what is in their bellies, from between digested food and blood, pure milk, pleasant for those who drink it.
-
67
And from the fruits of the date palms and grapevines you take intoxicants and good provision. In that there is a sign for people who use their reason.
-
68
Your Lord inspired the bee: "Make homes in the mountains and in the trees and in what people build.
-
69
Then eat from every kind of fruit and follow the ways of your Lord made easy [for you]." From their bellies comes a drink of varying colours, in which there is healing for people. In that there is a sign for people who reflect.
-
70
God created you, then He takes your souls. Among you are some who are returned to the most feeble age, so that after having knowledge they know nothing. God is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.
-
71
God has favoured some of you over others in provision. Yet those who have been favoured will not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess, so that they would be equal in it. Do they then deny God's favour?
-
72
God has made for you spouses from among yourselves, and has made for you from your spouses children and grandchildren, and has provided you with good things. Do they then believe in falsehood and deny God's favour?
-
73
Yet they worship besides God what has no power to provide anything for them from the heavens and the earth, nor are they able to.
-
74
So do not set forth likenesses for God. God knows, and you do not know.
-
75
God sets forth a parable: a slave who is owned and has no power over anything, and one whom We have provided with good provision from Us, and he spends from it secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise be to God! But most of them do not know.
-
76
And God sets forth a parable of two men: one of them is mute, unable to do anything, a burden on his master; wherever he sends him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice and is on a straight path?
-
77
To God belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth. The matter of the Hour is but as the twinkling of an eye, or even nearer. God has power over all things.
-
78
It was God who brought you forth from your mothers' bellies when you knew nothing at all, and who gave you ears, eyes and hearts, so that you might give thanks.
-
79
Have they not seen the birds held in the air of the sky? None holds them up but God. In that there are signs for people who believe.
-
80
God has made your houses a place of rest for you, and has made for you, from the hides of livestock, tents that you find light on the day you travel and the day you halt; and from their wool, fur and hair, furnishings and goods for a time.
-
81
God has made for you shade from what He has created, and made for you shelters in the mountains, and made for you garments that protect you from the heat, and garments that protect you in your battles. Thus does He complete His favour upon you, so that you may submit [to Him].
-
82
But if they turn away, your duty is only clear delivery [of the message].
-
83
They recognise God's favour, then they deny it, and most of them are ungrateful.
-
84
On the Day We raise up a witness from every community, those who disbelieved will not be permitted [to make excuses], nor will they be allowed to make amends.
-
85
When those who did wrong see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be given respite.
-
86
When those who associated partners [with God] see their partners, they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners whom we used to call on besides You." But they will throw back the word at them: "You are liars!"
-
87
On that Day they will offer submission to God, and what they used to invent will have deserted them.
-
88
Those who disbelieved and turned [people] away from the path of God, We will add punishment upon punishment for them, because of the corruption they used to spread.
-
89
On the Day We raise up in every community a witness against them from among themselves, We will bring you as a witness against these. We have sent down to you the Book as a clarification of all things, and as guidance, mercy and good news for the Muslims.
-
90
God commands justice, doing good, and giving to relatives, and He forbids indecency, wrongdoing and oppression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.
-
91
Fulfil God's covenant when you have made a covenant, and do not break oaths after confirming them, when you have made God your guarantor. God knows what you do.
-
92
Do not be like the woman who unravelled her yarn into strands after it had been firmly spun, by taking your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves because one community is more numerous than another. God only tests you by this, and on the Day of Resurrection He will surely make clear to you what you used to differ about.
-
93
Had God willed, He would have made you one community, but He leaves astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
-
94
Do not take your oaths as a means of deceit among yourselves, lest a foot slip after being firmly planted, and you taste evil for having turned [people] away from the path of God, and you have a great punishment.
-
95
Do not trade God's covenant for a paltry gain. What God holds is better for you, if you only understood.
-
96
What is with you runs out, but what is with God remains. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.
-
97
Whoever does righteous deeds, male or female, while being a believer, We will surely give them a good life, and We will surely give them their reward according to the best of what they used to do.
-
98
Whenever you recite the Quran, take refuge with God from Satan, the outcast.
-
99
He has no power over those who believe and who rely on their Lord.
-
100
His authority is only over those who take him as a patron and those who, because of him, associate partners [with God].
-
101
When We replace one verse with another — and God knows best what He sends down — they say, "You are only a fabricator." No, most of them do not know.
-
102
Say, "The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord in truth, to make firm those who believe, and as guidance and good news for the Muslims."
-
103
We know well that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him." The tongue of the one they allude to is foreign, while this is clear Arabic speech.
-
104
Those who do not believe in God's verses, God will not guide them, and they will have a painful punishment.
-
105
It is only those who do not believe in God's verses who invent falsehood, and it is they who are the liars.
-
106
Whoever disbelieves in God after having believed — except one who is forced while his heart remains at peace in faith — but whoever opens his heart to disbelief, upon them is wrath from God, and they will have a great punishment.
-
107
That is because they preferred the life of this world to the Hereafter, and because God does not guide the disbelieving people.
-
108
They are the ones whose hearts, hearing and sight God has sealed, and they are the heedless.
-
109
There is no doubt that in the Hereafter they will be the losers.
-
110
Then your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been persecuted, then strove and were patient — your Lord after that is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
-
111
[Remember] the Day when each soul will come arguing in its own defence, and each soul will be repaid in full for its deeds, and none will be treated unjustly.
-
112
God sets forth a parable: a town that was secure and at peace, its provision coming to it in abundance from every place. But it was ungrateful for God's favours, so God made it taste the garment of hunger and fear for what its people used to do.
-
113
A messenger from among themselves came to them, but they denied him, so the punishment seized them while they were doing wrong.
-
114
So eat of what God has provided for you, lawful and good, and be grateful for God's favour, if it is Him you worship.
-
115
He has forbidden you only carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, and what has been dedicated to other than God. But whoever is compelled by necessity, neither desiring it nor exceeding [the limit], then God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
-
116
Do not say about what your tongues falsely describe, "This is lawful and this is forbidden," so as to invent lies against God. Those who invent lies against God will not prosper.
-
117
[Theirs is] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.
-
118
For those who are Jews We forbade what We related to you before. We did not wrong them, but they used to wrong themselves.
-
119
Then your Lord, to those who did evil in ignorance and then repented after that and set things right — your Lord after that is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
-
120
Abraham was a community in himself, devoutly obedient to God, upright in faith, and he was not one of the idolaters,
-
121
thankful for the favours [God gave him]. [God] chose him and led him to a straight path.
-
122
In this world We gave him what is good, and in the Hereafter he is surely one of the righteous.
-
123
Then We revealed to you: "Follow the way of Abraham, upright in faith; he was not one of the idolaters."
-
124
The Sabbath was only appointed for those who differed about it. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning what they used to differ about.
-
125
Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good admonition, and argue with them in the best manner. Your Lord knows best who has strayed from His path, and He knows best who are rightly guided.
-
126
If you retaliate, then retaliate to the same degree as you were wronged. But if you are patient, that is better for those who are patient.
-
127
Be patient, and your patience is only through God. Do not grieve over them, and do not be distressed by what they plot.
-
128
God is with those who are mindful of Him and those who do good.
