この章について
The surah opens by contrasting those who disbelieve and bar others from God's path, whose deeds are made void, with those who believe in what was sent down to Muhammad, whose condition God sets right. It gives instructions for meeting disbelievers in battle and for captives, who may be freed as a favor or for ransom, and says the deeds of those killed in God's way will not be wasted. Believers are promised that if they help God's cause He will make their feet firm, and the Garden is described with rivers of fresh water, milk, wine and purified honey. The middle section turns to hypocrites who panic when fighting is mentioned and to those who do not reflect on the Quran, as if there were locks on their hearts. It ends by urging believers not to weaken and to spend in God's way, reminding them that God is Self-Sufficient and they are the needy.

1
As for those who disbelieve and turn [others] away from God's path, He will render their deeds void.
-
2
But those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down to Muhammad, which is the truth from their Lord, He will remove from them their misdeeds and set their condition right.
-
3
That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, while those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does God set forth for people their examples.
-
4
So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike the necks until, when you have subdued them, bind them firmly. Then either [release them] as a favor afterwards or [for] ransom, until the war lays down its burdens. That [is so]. Had God willed, He could have taken retribution on them [Himself], but [He commands you] so that He may test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the way of God, He will never let their deeds go to waste.
-
5
He will guide them and set their condition right,
-
6
and admit them into the Garden, which He has made known to them.
-
7
O you who believe, if you help [the cause of] God, He will help you and make your feet firm.
-
8
But as for those who disbelieve, destruction for them! And He will make their deeds go to waste.
-
9
That is because they hated what God sent down, so He has made their deeds worthless.
-
10
Have they not traveled through the land and seen what the end was of those before them? God destroyed them utterly, and for the disbelievers there will be the like of it.
-
11
That is because God is the Protector of those who believe, and the disbelievers have no protector.
-
12
God will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds into Gardens beneath which rivers flow. But those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as cattle eat, and the Fire will be their dwelling.
-
13
And how many a town, stronger in power than your town which drove you out, have We destroyed, and there was no helper for them!
-
14
Is one who stands on clear proof from his Lord like one to whom the evil of his deeds has been made fair-seeming, and who follow their own desires?
-
15
The likeness of the Garden promised to the God-fearing: in it are rivers of water that never turns stale, rivers of milk whose taste never changes, rivers of wine delightful to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey. In it they will have every kind of fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord. [Are they] like those who abide forever in the Fire and are given boiling water to drink, which tears apart their bowels?
-
16
And among them are some who listen to you, but when they leave your presence, they say to those who were given knowledge, "What was it he said just now?" Those are the ones whose hearts God has sealed, and they follow their own desires.
-
17
But those who are guided, He increases them in guidance and grants them their mindfulness of God.
-
18
Are they waiting for anything but the Hour, that it should come upon them suddenly? Its signs have already come. Then how will their reminder avail them when it has come upon them?
-
19
So know that there is no god but God, and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and the believing women. God knows your moving about and your place of rest.
-
20
Those who believe say, "Why has a sura not been sent down?" But when a decisive sura is sent down and fighting is mentioned in it, you see those in whose hearts is a disease looking at you with the look of one fainting at death. Better for them would be

obedience and a fitting word. And when the matter is resolved, if they had been true to God, it would have been better for them.
-
22
Then is it to be expected of you, if you turn away, that you will spread corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?
-
23
Those are the ones whom God has cursed, so He made them deaf and blinded their eyes.
-
24
Do they not reflect on the Quran, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?
-
25
Those who turn back after guidance has become clear to them, Satan has enticed them and prolonged [false hopes] for them.
-
26
That is because they said to those who hated what God sent down, "We will obey you in part of the matter." And God knows their secrets.
-
27
And what will it be like when the angels take their souls, beating them on their faces and backs?
-
28
That is because they followed what angered God and disliked His pleasure, so He made their deeds worthless.
-
29
Or do those in whose hearts is a disease think that God will never bring their hidden malice to light?
-
30
Had We willed, We could have shown them to you, and you would have recognized them by their marks. But you will surely recognize them by the tone of their speech. And God knows your deeds.
-
31
And We will surely test you until We know those of you who strive and those who are patient, and We will test your affairs.
-
32
Those who disbelieve, bar [others] from the way of God, and oppose the Messenger after guidance has become clear to them, will not harm God in the least, and He will make their deeds worthless.
-
33
O you who believe, obey God and obey the Messenger, and do not let your deeds go to waste.
-
34
Those who disbelieve and bar [others] from the way of God, then die while they are disbelievers, God will never forgive them.
-
35
So do not weaken and call for peace while you are the uppermost; God is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.
-
36
The life of this world is only play and amusement. But if you believe and are mindful of God, He will give you your rewards and will not ask you for your wealth.
-
37
If He were to ask you for it and press you, you would be stingy, and He would bring out your hidden malice.
-
38
Here you are, being called to spend in the way of God, yet among you are some who are stingy. And whoever is stingy is only stingy against himself. God is the Self-Sufficient, and you are the needy. And if you turn away, He will replace you with another people, and they will not be like you.
