关于本章
Classed as a Medinan sura, it begins by pointing to God's signs: the heavens raised without visible pillars, the earth spread out with mountains and rivers, and neighbouring plots watered alike yet bearing fruits of different taste. It quotes those who doubt they will be created anew after becoming dust, and stresses that God knows what every womb carries and every word spoken or hidden. The thunder and the angels glorify Him, and it states that God does not change a people's condition until they change what is in themselves. Truth and falsehood are compared to water that remains and foam that is swept away. Those who keep their pledge, are patient and pray are set against those who break God's covenant. It says that hearts find rest in the remembrance of God, and ends by declaring God enough as a witness between the Prophet and those who deny him.
- Signs in creation
- Thunder's praise

1
Alif Lam Mim Ra. Such are the verses of the Book. That which your Lord has revealed to you is the truth, but the majority of people refuse to believe.
-
2
It is God who raised the heavens without pillars that you can see, then established Himself on the Throne. He has made the sun and the moon subservient, each running for an appointed term. He directs the affair and sets out the signs in detail, so that you may be certain of meeting your Lord.
-
3
It is He who spread out the earth and placed in it firm mountains and rivers, and of every kind of fruit He made in it two of a pair. He draws the night as a cover over the day. In that there are signs for people who reflect.
-
4
On the earth there are neighbouring tracts, and gardens of grapevines, and crops, and date palms, growing from shared roots or from separate roots, all watered with the same water; yet We make some of them better than others to eat. In that there are signs for people who use their reason.
-
5
If you are amazed, then amazing is their saying, "When we have become dust, will we really be in a new creation?" They are the ones who disbelieve in their Lord; they are the ones with shackles around their necks; they are the companions of the Fire, in which they will abide forever.
-
6
They ask you to hasten the evil before the good, though exemplary punishments have already passed before them. Your Lord is full of forgiveness for people despite their wrongdoing, and your Lord is severe in punishment.
-
7
Those who disbelieve say, "Why has no sign been sent down to him from his Lord?" You are only a warner, and every people has a guide.
-
8
God knows what every female carries, and what the wombs fall short of and what they exceed. Everything with Him is in due measure.
-
9
Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Great, the Most High.
-
10
It is the same [to Him] whether any of you conceals his speech or declares it, and whether one hides by night or goes about openly by day.
-
11
Each person has [angels] following in succession, before him and behind him, guarding him by God's command. God does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. When God wills harm for a people, there is no turning it back, and they have no protector besides Him.
-
12
It is He who shows you the lightning, [arousing] fear and hope, and He raises the heavy clouds.
-
13
The thunder glorifies Him with His praise, and so do the angels in awe of Him. He sends the thunderbolts and strikes with them whom He wills. Yet they dispute about God, while He is formidable in His might.
-
14
To Him alone is the true call [of prayer]. Those whom they call on besides Him do not answer them in the least, except as one who stretches out his hands towards water so that it may reach his mouth, but it never reaches it. The call of the disbelievers is only in vain.
-
15
To God bow down all who are in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and so do their shadows, in the mornings and the evenings.
-
16
Say, "Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?" Say, "God." Say, "Have you then taken protectors besides Him who have no power to benefit or harm even themselves?" Say, "Are the blind and the seeing equal? Or are darkness and light equal? Or have they assigned to God partners who created as He creates, so that the creation seemed alike to them?" Say, "God is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the All-Conquering."
-
17
He sends down water from the sky, and valleys flow, each according to its measure, and the torrent carries swelling foam. And from what they heat in the fire, seeking ornaments or utensils, comes a foam like it. Thus God illustrates truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes as scum; but what benefits people remains on the earth. Thus God sets forth parables.
-
18
For those who respond to their Lord there is the best [reward]. As for those who do not respond to Him, even if they had all that is on the earth and as much again, they would offer it as ransom. Theirs will be an evil reckoning, and their refuge will be Hell. What an evil resting place!
-
19
Is the one who knows that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is blind? Only those of understanding take heed:
-
20
those who fulfil God's covenant and do not break the pledge,
-
21
and who join what God has commanded to be joined, and fear their Lord, and dread an evil reckoning,
-
22
and who are patient, seeking the face of their Lord, and keep up the prayer, and spend secretly and openly from what We have provided for them, and repel evil with good. For them is the final attainment of the [true] home:
-
23
Gardens of Eden, which they will enter, together with those who were righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate:
-
24
"Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. How excellent is the final home!"
-
25
But those who break God's covenant after its confirmation, and sever what God has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption in the land, upon them is the curse, and theirs is the evil home.
-
26
God extends provision to whom He wills and restricts it. They rejoice in the life of this world, yet the life of this world, compared to the Hereafter, is nothing but a brief enjoyment.
-
27
Those who disbelieve say, "Why has no sign been sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "God leaves astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns [to Him],
-
28
those who believe and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of God. Truly, in the remembrance of God do hearts find rest."
-
29
Those who believe and do righteous deeds, for them is blessedness and an excellent place of return.
-
30
Thus We have sent you among a community before which other communities have passed away, so that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you, while they disbelieve in the Most Gracious. Say, "He is my Lord; there is no god but Him. In Him I put my trust, and to Him is my return."
-
31
Even if there were a Quran by which mountains were set in motion, or the earth were split apart, or the dead were made to speak [they would still not believe]. Rather, the whole matter belongs to God. Have those who believe not yet realised that, had God willed, He would have guided all people? And those who disbelieve will continue to be struck by calamity for what they have done, or it will descend near their homes, until God's promise comes. God never fails in His promise.
-
32
Messengers before you were mocked, but I gave respite to those who disbelieved, then I seized them. And how [terrible] was My punishment!
-
33
Is He who stands over every soul [aware of] what it has earned [like any other]? Yet they assign partners to God. Say, "Name them! Or are you informing Him of something on the earth that He does not know, or is it just a show of words?" No, their scheming has been made attractive to those who disbelieve, and they have been barred from the path. Whoever God leaves astray has no guide.
-
34
For them is punishment in the life of this world, and the punishment of the Hereafter is harder still. They have no defender against God.
-
35
The likeness of the Garden promised to the God-fearing: rivers flow beneath it; its fruit is everlasting, and its shade also. That is the outcome for those who are mindful of God, and the outcome for the disbelievers is the Fire.
-
36
Those to whom We gave the Book rejoice at what has been sent down to you, but among the factions are those who deny part of it. Say, "I have only been commanded to worship God and not to associate anything with Him. To Him I call, and to Him is my return."
-
37
Thus We have sent it down as a judgement in Arabic. If you were to follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you would have no protector or defender against God.
-
38
We sent messengers before you and gave them wives and offspring. It was not for any messenger to bring a sign except by God's permission. For every term there is a decree.
-
39
God erases what He wills and confirms [what He wills], and with Him is the Mother of the Book.
-
40
Whether We show you part of what We promise them or take your soul [before that], your duty is only to deliver [the message], and Ours is the reckoning.
-
41
Do they not see that We come to the land, diminishing it from its borders? God judges, and there is none to reverse His judgement. He is swift in reckoning.
-
42
Those before them schemed, but all scheming belongs to God. He knows what every soul earns. The disbelievers will come to know to whom the final home belongs.
-
43
The disbelievers say, "You have not been sent [by God]." Say, "God is witness enough between you and me, as is whoever possesses knowledge of the Book."
