关于本章
Classified as revealed in the Meccan period, this surah opens with the letter Nun and an oath by the pen and what people write, assuring the Messenger that he is not mad and that he has a great moral character. It warns him not to obey the deniers who want him to compromise, especially the slanderer who obstructs good and boasts of his wealth and sons. At its centre is the story of the owners of a garden who swore to harvest it early so that no poor person could enter, only to find it stripped bare overnight; they then blamed one another and repented. The surah goes on to ask whether those who submit will be treated like the wicked, and warns of a Day when people will be called to prostrate but unable to. It ends by urging patience and not to be like the companion of the fish who cried out in distress.
